INTERN POSITION AVAILABLE
egg&chicken food projects & consulting works on a variety of projects across the food sector with an overall vision of promoting a fairer more equitable food system which provides viable livelihoods for small-scale farmers and producers and nourishes people, communities, and the planet.
We work on projects that promote food citizenship, food sovereignty, sustainable practices throughout the food supply chain, sustainable local food economies, and access to good food for all.
Our activities include:
· working directly with food producers to help them to develop viable businesses through supporting or advising on business planning and development, diversification projects, funding applications, marketing and more
· projects which influence or shape food policy
· promoting food education, working on food education initiatives
· supporting and working with events, initiatives, community groups, and bodies whose work supports our vision
We are looking to recruit
an intern who shares this vision and who is enthusiastic about learning more,
being part of this food community, and working hard towards this vision. The work will be varied depending on the clients and projects, and will provide lots of opportunity to learn about the food sector and food policy in Ireland.
The Intern will be tasked with assisting in:
- Project research
- Report Writing
- Creating presentations
- Social Media
- General Admin
Assisting the agency director as required
The Intern should have:
- A relevant third level qualification
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good writing and language skills
- Ability to carry out efficient research and analysis and report findings
- A good standard of computing skills
The intern should be:
- Eager to learn and make a positive contribution
- Resourceful and highly motivated
- Social media experience/skills
- Graphic skills/good eye for design
- Knowledge/experience of food sector

egg&chicken is led by Ruth Hegarty, who has over 15
years unique experience in the Irish artisan food & restaurant industry, as
well as in food policy at national and European level. Ruth worked for 11 years
as Secretary-General of the Irish branch of European chefs group Euro-Toques,
which promotes quality food production & local food sourcing. Previously
she worked with start-ups on business plans and feasibility studies through
Griffith College Dublin. She holds a Masters in European Economic & Public
Affairs, with a thesis on ‘EU Food Quality Policy: Protecting Europe’s
Traditional & Speciality Foods’.
